Project Criteria
  • Colour chip & product name - Students must use Nippon Paint products and colours in project.
  • Green element - Students must state clearly what are the eco-friendly products and elements that have been used in the project.
  • Colour scheme - Justify why the colours are chosen.
  • Name & Theme/Concept - All projects must be stated with the project title and theme/concept.
  • Submission Requirements
  • Presentation Board (A2 size) - minimum 3 boards and maximum 4 boards that will be based on soft copy submitted only.
  • Board 1 (floor plan, elevation, furniture layout plan, site analysis).
  • Board 1 must also include the site you have chosen in visual document, details of the existing site and a discussion on why the site was selected.
  • Board 2, 3, 4 (3D perspectives).
  • Presentation boards must be designed in vertical layout format.
  • CD/DVD digital copy of the project ?the design of the A2 board must be saved in a folder as "Presentation Board" with the file name as "(your name) Board 1" & the design statement.
  • Design statement should not be more than 100 words in a Microsoft Word file format.
  • All required image files must be in 300 dpi with JPEG format.
  • The individual perspective in JPEG format, in high resolution (300 dpi), minimum A4 size must be saved in a folder entitled "Perspectives". The file name of the JPEG shall be saved in the format as "your name/area".
  • All colours used in the project must be from Nippon Paint's product range.
  • All colours used in the design must be clearly illustrated with Nippon Paint's colour name, colour code and product range. Please download the colour chip here.
  • Label all areas on the floor plan.
  • Perspective in A2 board numbers 2, 3, 4 must be in A3, A4 or A5 sizes to be posted onto the board.
  • Submissions should not include any students?profile or identify the school/college on the presentation board to ensure fair judgment of the competition.

    We're inviting young interior designers and architects to apply their years of education and training to recreate an existing space. These spaces can be any building, neighbourhood, abandoned structures or even empty sites. Participants must showcase how their designs can aesthetically improve and creatively innovate the chosen space. Lastly, participants are required to incorporate eco-friendly designs to ensure a healthier environment for a brighter future.

    Young Designer Award 2011
    The Nippon Paint Young Designer Award (NPYDA) is organised by Nippon Paint and gives recognition to young, talented designers.

    In 2011, the objectives was to involve young designers and architects to implement creative and innovative green design, aimed at better living with an optimal balance of cost, environmental, social and human benefits.

    This year, NPYDA also goes regional! The Gold Winners will have the chance to compete for the regional title against competitors from across Asia. The Regional winner will walk away with cash prizes and the title of NIPPON PAINT TOP YOUNG DESIGNER OF THE YEAR 2011.

    The Nippon Paint Young Designer Award was first launched in 2008, with the aim to inspire students to be more innovative, and motivate them to a higher degree of professionalism.

    At Nippon Paint, we acknowledge the abundance of talent in this creative industry and provide an avenue for them to design responsibly.

    We are committed to cultivate and strengthen the creative minds of the interior design and architectural students in our industry.

    It is our fervent hope that the Nippon Paint Young Designer Award would be the inspiration and the spark that brings forth the best in our local interior design and architectural students so that their work would eventually gain recognition in the local and international arena.
