Submission Limit	Maximum 1 project
Project Criteria	Colour chip & product name - Students must use Nippon Paint products and colours in project. Green element - Students must state clearly what are the eco-friendly products and elements that have been used in the project. Colour scheme - Justify why the colours are chosen. Name & Theme/Concept - All projects must be stated with the project title and theme/concept.
Submission Requirements	Presentation Board (A2 size) - minimum 3 boards and maximum 4 boards that will be based on soft copy submitted only. Board 1 (floor plan, elevation, furniture layout plan, site analysis). Board 1 must also include the site you have chosen in visual document, details of the existing site and a discussion on why the site was selected. Board 2, 3, 4 (3D perspectives). Presentation boards must be designed in vertical layout format. CD/DVD digital copy of the project ?the design of the A2 board must be saved in a folder as "Presentation Board" with the file name as "(your name) Board 1" & the design statement. Design statement should not be more than 100 words in a Microsoft Word file format. All required image files must be in 300 dpi with JPEG format. The individual perspective in JPEG format, in high resolution (300 dpi), minimum A4 size must be saved in a folder entitled "Perspectives". The file name of the JPEG shall be saved in the format as "your name/area". All colours used in the project must be from Nippon Paint's product range. All colours used in the design must be clearly illustrated with Nippon Paint's colour name, colour code and product range. Please download the colour chip here. Label all areas on the floor plan. Perspective in A2 board numbers 2, 3, 4 must be in A3, A4 or A5 sizes to be posted onto the board. Submissions should not include any students?profile or identify the school/college on the presentation board to ensure fair judgment of the competition.

We're inviting young interior designers and architects to apply their years of education and training to recreate an existing space. These spaces can be any building, neighbourhood, abandoned structures or even empty sites. Participants must showcase how their designs can aesthetically improve and creatively innovate the chosen space. Lastly, participants are required to incorporate eco-friendly designs to ensure a healthier environment for a brighter future.

Mr. Dickie Ong Chye Huat
Dickie has about 20 years of working experience as Designer.

He has worked for numerous architectural and interior design firms and has experience in design and build projects mostly in hospitality and corporate office. Over the years Dickie has also mange projects overseas. Dickie has attained Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Architecture. He is also a Fellow member of Interior Design Institute of Malaysia (ipdm). Dickie is a registered Interior Designer with Board of Architects Malaysia (Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia), Member of the Inspection Team of Malaysian Hotel by Ministry of Culture, Arts and Tourism Malaysia, a former lecturer at KBU International College and a panelist at the Universiti Sains Malaysia.

Pn. Anura Hashim
Council Member of MSID, Managing Director of YJA Interiors.

Anura Hashim has more than 20 years of experience spanning a variety of disciplines including broadcasting, antiques and of course, interior design. Having a passion for creating spaces that are trendy yet practical, she established YJA Interiors in 2003. Anura Hashim has been an active council member since 2005.

Fendarie Su
Member of MIID, MSID, IPDM & LAM, Principle of Santa Fe Interior Architecture Sdn. Bhd.

With 16 years of experience in Interior Design in Malaysia, USA and Holland, Ms. Fendarie Su is currently the Founder & Principle of Santa Fe Interior Architecture Sdn. Bhd, a multi International interior design awards winning firm specialized in conceptual design for corporate offices, institutions, hotels & commercial projects. She holds a B.S. Degree (Hons) Majoring in Interior Design (Fider Accredited) at Utah State University (USU), Utah, USA.

Ms. Monie Mohariff
Former Vice President of IPDM, 2009/2010 & Principal of MZ Design Consultancy.

Ms. Monie Mohariff is a Registered Architect of Malaysian Board of Architects. Ms. Monie was the Vice President of Malaysian Institute of Interior Designer, Honorary Secretary of Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers, Council Member of Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers, and is currently the Principle of MZ Design Consultancy and Hotel Rating Inspector of Ministry of Tourism Malaysia.

Mr. Lai Siew Hong
Having completed his Tertiary Education in both Malaysia and New York, Mr. Lai Siew Hong qualified as an Interior Designer in 1989 from F.I.T at the State University of New York. His industrial experience widely encompasses of hospitality, corporate offices and commercial with clients such as Accenture, CIMB, Hilton and Westin under his belt.

Ar. Jasmeet Singh Sidhu
(NPYDA Chief Judge)
Principal of Arkitek JazSidhu, CEO of Dezignwerkz Asia, Vice President of IPDM, Chairman of Green Interiors Rating, Past Council Member of PAM, Past Editor-in-Chief of Architecture Malaysia.

Jasmeet Singh Sidhu is a Registered Professional Architect in APAM, AIPDM and MNCC. Jasmeet was Principal of Design Computing Research and Director of Antipode Systems Pty Ltd, in Sydney, Australia and is currently the Principal Architect in Arkitek JazSidhu since 2008 and CEO of Dezignwerkz Asia.

Ar. Alvin Lim Hai Seah
Council Member of PAM.

Ar. Sarly Adre Bin Sarkum
Council Member of PAM, Board Member of MGBC, Director of BDA Architects Sdn Bhd.

Sarly pursued his architecture degree at the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom where he earned his B. Arts in Architecture in 1998. He currently leads the Kuala Lumpur office of BDA Architects Sdn. Bhd as Director and works with clients such as PETRONAS, UDA, Putrajaya Holdings and others.

Ar. Jeffery KB Cheah
Member of PAM & Partner of ZONE Architect.

Jeffery KB Cheah graduated from the University of NewCastle with 2 Bachelors in Architecture. He earned his masters in Southern Cross University. He was a founding partner of ZONE Architecture and is currently a proprietor of Zone Architect Abu Dhabi. He is also a director of Lexus Development.

Ar. Lee Chor Wah
Ar. Lee Chor Wah is currently a lecturer at UTAR and the principal of Lee Chor Wah Architect. He was the CEO of SN Low & Associates Sdn. Bhd. and is also the immediate Past President of the Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM). He was a board member of the Board of Lembaga Akitek Malaysia (LAM) as well as Vice President of Fiabci Malaysia.

Lecturer/Specialist II - University Tunku Abdul Rahman Principal - Lee Chor Wah Architect Director - Pentas Reka Sdn. Bhd. B. Arch (Hons) University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia.

Ar. Lee Chor Wah is currently a lecturer in the School of Architecture, UTAR. He was a former CEO of SN Low & Associates Sdn. Bhd. and is also a Past President of the Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM). He was also a board member of the Board of Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM) as well as Vice President of Fiabci Malaysia in 2008 - 2009.

Young Designer Award 2011
The Nippon Paint Young Designer Award (NPYDA) is organised by Nippon Paint and gives recognition to young, talented designers.

In 2011, the objectives was to involve young designers and architects to implement creative and innovative green design, aimed at better living with an optimal balance of cost, environmental, social and human benefits.

This year, NPYDA also goes regional! The Gold Winners will have the chance to compete for the regional title against competitors from across Asia. The Regional winner will walk away with cash prizes and the title of NIPPON PAINT TOP YOUNG DESIGNER OF THE YEAR 2011.

The inaugural Nippon Paint Young Designer Award is established to give recognition to young, talented designers in Malaysia.

This year's competition objective was to test students' skills in the application of colour imagination and creativity into the projects. Some of the judging criteria included originality of design, colour coordination, colour innovation, space planning and environmental friendliness.

The Nippon Paint Young Designer Award was first launched in 2008, with the aim to inspire students to be more innovative, and motivate them to a higher degree of professionalism.

At Nippon Paint, we acknowledge the abundance of talent in this creative industry and provide an avenue for them to design responsibly.

We are committed to cultivate and strengthen the creative minds of the interior design and architectural students in our industry.

It is our fervent hope that the Nippon Paint Young Designer Award would be the inspiration and the spark that brings forth the best in our local interior design and architectural students so that their work would eventually gain recognition in the local and international arena.
