Project Overview
Sustainable design has been highly featured in global design industry in recent years. And designers and architects have taken a leading role in influencing change for the better.
The South East Asian design industry is becoming more aware and keen on green issues as government departments, professional bodies, education institutes, private sectors and society at large have increased their commitment on environment stewardship and conservation.
Hence, we would like to invite young designers and architects to implement creative and innovative green design, aimed at better living with an optimal balance of cost, environmental, social and human benefits.
Design Objectives
Designs submitted should follow these principles:
-
Reduce resource usage
Usage of energy and water must be reduced to minimise load, increase efficiency and renewable resource usage
-
Building resources to reduce impact Increased usage of environment-friendly materials to minimise life-cycle environmental impact (global warming, resource depletion and human toxicity)
-
Enhance Indoor Environment Quality (IEQ)
The IEQ of a building has a significant impact on occupant health, comfort, and productivity
-
Optimise operational and maintenance costs
It is essential for designers to specify materials and system that simplify and reduce maintenance requirements
Raising the next generation of Eco-Design
The Nippon Paint Young Designer Award was first launched in 2008, with the aim to inspire students to be more innovative, and motivate them to a higher degree of professionalism.
At Nippon Paint, we acknowledge the abundance of talent in this creative industry and provide an avenue for them to design responsibly. We are committed to cultivate and strengthen the creative minds of the interior design and architectural students in our industry.
It is our fervent hope that the Nippon Paint Young Designer Award would be the inspiration and the spark that brings forth the best in our local interior design and architectural students so that their work would eventually gain recognition in the local and international arena.
NPYDA Goes Regional
For the first time, the YDA will reach throughout the region, allowing young designers and architects to pit their talents against others in 8 countries. So design students from Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Thailand and Vietnam will be vying to be the TOP YOUNG DESIGNER across Asia.
So the final stage of the judging process will be a regional one, gathering all the finalists from across Asia for an oral presentation.
